Goodman man dies after “out of control” episode Thanksgiving ending in fire, death

GOODLAND – A man is dead following an incident on Thanksgiving that ended in a fire.

According to Newton County Indiana Sheriff’s Police, it happened after officers were called to South Newton Street for an unknown problem.  Once officers arrived, a family member described her brother as “out of control” and “destroying the house”. 

Officers tried to take the man, 40-year-old Kevin W. Stone of Goodland into custody when he began to fight and charge police.  Stone reportedly ran back inside the house and began breaking windows.  Smoke was seen a short time later flowing out of an upstairs window.

Fire officials were called to put out the blaze and found the remains of an individuals in the upstairs portion of the home.  DNA test results are pending identification
