LAFAYETTE, IN – A plane destined for Kentland found itself making an unexpected emergency landing at Purdue University Airport on Sunday evening. The pilot, Travis Pulley of New Richmond, IN, skillfully navigated the situation, ensuring a safe outcome for himself as the lone person onboard.
Initially departing from Lafayette, Pulley had set his sights on reaching Kentland. However, as the weather deteriorated, he made a critical decision to divert back to Purdue University Airport. While in the process of contacting air traffic control, the engine unexpectedly failed, leaving Pulley with no choice but to execute an emergency landing.
At present, the cause of the engine failure and subsequent emergency landing remains unknown, as confirmed by a news release from the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s office.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and Pulley’s swift actions demonstrated his ability to handle the challenging circumstances.
Authorities will now embark on an investigation to determine the root cause of the plane’s difficulties during its intended flight to Kentland.
