Dog gets loose, discovers body of Frankfort man missing since November in woods off Route 30

FRANKFORT – A dog who got off their leash last Thursday and ran into some nearby woods led their walker to the remains of a man missing since November 14th. 

According to Will County Sheriff’s Police, officers were sent to an area in the 21300 Block of River Road in Frankfort Township for more information on the discovery.  According to reports a resident of the area was walking his dog just off Route 30 near W. Woodvale Road and S. River Road when the pair discovered the skeletal remains of 55-year-old Luis Padilla.

Investigators say to animal activity in the area, Padilla’s remains were scattered across the general area.  Padilla’s bicycle was also located nearby.  

The remains were found miles away from Padilla’s normal bicycle route.  CSI teams later recovered clothing belonging to Padilla as well as his wallet.

An autopsy is planned with further details surrounding Padilla’s death expected to be released by Will County Coroner’s Office in the coming days.
