JOLIET, Ill. – Three suspects have been taken into custody following a shelter-in-place incident in Joliet.
The situation unfolded when Joliet Police responded to a pursuit initiated by DuPage County authorities. Spike strips were deployed to disable two vehicles, resulting in the apprehension of the suspects near the intersection of Black Rd and Junie Ct. A shelter in place was issued around 5:30 a.m. and lasted roughly five hours before being lifted after two additional subjects were captured.
However, law enforcement agencies are still searching for an additional suspect described as a black male in his 20s wearing a black sweatshirt and grey pants.
Residents within the affected area, encompassing Black Rd to the north, Glenwood to the south, Midland to the west, and Raynor to the east, were advised to remain indoors until the shelter-in-place order was lifted.
The Joliet Police Department confirmed the arrest of the three men, aged 16, 20, and 21, at their headquarters on the city’s West Side. The search for the remaining suspect continues, along with the aid of K-9 units and drones. Authorities have urged anyone with information to contact either 911 or the Joliet Police Department’s non-emergency number.
Updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
