JOLIET – A Walgreens pharmacist was violently attacked by a man who allegedly visited the wrong store to pick up his prescription.

Steven Davis, a 37-year-old resident of Streator, was arrested and booked into the Will County Jail on Wednesday after throwing a plexiglass stand at a pharmacist, hitting him in the chest.

The incident occurred Monday around 6:30 p.m. at the Walgreens store located at 2101 W. Jefferson Street.  Davis has since been charged with aggravated battery.

According to Joliet Police, Davis became irate and threw the plexiglass stand after being told he had come to the wrong Walgreens to pick up his prescription. The victim, a male pharmacist, was uninjured. Davis fled the scene before the officers arrived.

Davis was spotted by Joliet police around 1:15 a.m. on Wednesday near the intersection of West Jefferson Street and Larkin Avenue, and was taken into custody without incident after he was identified as the suspect in the matter.
