JOLIET, Ill. – Get ready for a night of excitement as the New Orleans North Music Festival presented by Harrah’s Joliet makes its highly anticipated return to downtown Joliet on Friday, June 2, 2023, from 5-11 p.m. This vibrant event will immerse attendees in the rich culture of New Orleans, offering a taste of the city’s music, food, and unique atmosphere right in the heart of Joliet.

Hosted by the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the festival aims to provide locals with an unforgettable experience reminiscent of the renowned and diverse city of New Orleans. “New Orleans North is the perfect opportunity to revisit fond memories of travel or create new ones without leaving the comforting confines of the City of Joliet,” said Jen Howard, President of the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce & Industry. “This night of fun features local artists, a wide variety of food options, cold beer and hurricanes, and an unparalleled lineup of live musical entertainment that only the Joliet Chamber can deliver.”

The festival will feature four distinct areas of live entertainment, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Taking the stage at the D’Arcy Buick GMC Main Stage is Maggie Speaks, one of the hottest live bands in the Midwest. With their musical versatility, they cover everything from the 60s to today across multiple genres. The event will also include the highly anticipated New Orleans North Drag Show presented by the Joliet Pride Network, featuring performances by talented queens including 2021 Miss Joliet Pridefest Ebony Delite and the vivacious Fonda LaFemme.

The musical journey will begin with two traditional New Orleans-inspired brass zydeco bands, the 3rd City Brass Band and Big Lagniappe, parading attendees inside with their infectious beats and vibrant sounds. Meanwhile, Thompson’s Tap will host performances by The Righteous Hillbillies, known for their Southern spirit of blues, soul, and rock ‘n’ roll power, as well as Kelsey Montanez, who captivates audiences with her blend of blues, pop, and psychedelia. The Abri Credit Union Hookah Alley will showcase The Jib Brothers Band, covering classic tunes from over 30 different artists with stunning three-part harmonies. Additionally, a music club on Van Buren Street will feature acoustic harmonies from a lineup of talented solo artists and duos.

Aside from the captivating music, festival-goers can enjoy the iconic Hurricane drink, a NOLA cocktail that is sure to get the party started. Served in a color-changing cup, the Hurricanes will be available for the first 1000 purchasers. The festival will also offer a wide selection of cold beers, including NOLA-produced Abita Purple Haze and locally crafted brews from Will County Brewing, ensuring there’s a beverage option for every taste.

Food enthusiasts can savor the flavors of New Orleans through a variety of Cajun dishes served by local restaurants and food trucks. From crawfish sandwiches to hot pretzels and tacos, the festival’s food vendors will cater to diverse palates.

The festival promises more than just music and food. Street performers, including stilt walkers and live painters, will add a touch of eccentricity to the event. As night falls, the entertainment collective Intrinsic Arts will showcase spectacular fire performances, captivating the audience with their mesmerizing displays. For art enthusiasts, Artist Row will present a stationary display of local artwork, offering the opportunity to take home a piece of New Orleans culture.

Tickets for the New Orleans North Music Festival are available for purchase at the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce.
