Through the use of Community Development Block Grant funds, The City of Joliet is pleased to announce a complimentary Residential Senior Snow Removal Program for 2019.

The City of Joliet is once again offering snow removal assistance this winter to City of Joliet residents 65 years or older, or a person with a doctor verified disability. The program is designed to make it easier for seniors and persons with disabilities to leave their homes for necessities such as picking up prescriptions or groceries and getting to medical appointments by providing snow removal from paved driveways and service sidewalks at their homes. This program is restricted to single family homes only. Funds are limited and other requirements may apply.

Snow removal services are provided when there have been two or more inches of snowfall. A contractor will remove snow from your paved driveway and service walk from driveway to front door. The contractor is not required to remove snow from the back of the home. Snow is removed within 24 hours after the snowfall has stopped and contractor will not salt any areas. Contractor will remove snow between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. However, services cannot be guaranteed for a specific time of day.

Residents – The application period for the program is going to be open from September 30, 2019 – October 6, 2019.  A submitted application does not mean you are in the program for this season.   A lottery will be held of all applicants.  If you choose to submit an application, IT MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN OCTOBER 6, 2019. The number of selected participants is determined by the amount of funds available and the cost of the service. You will be notified if you are selected for the program.

The application can be found and submitted online at https://www.joliet.gov/snowprogram or may be submitted via email to NeighborhoodServices@joliet.gov, or in person at Joliet City Hall, located at 150 W. Jefferson Street.
