Lockport Woman Dies after being Hit by Car on Route 45 in Will County Overnight

MANHATTAN, IL – A 27-year-old Lockport woman was struck and killed while walking on Route 45 late Friday night.

According to Frankfort Fire officials it happened at 11:18 p.m. when emergency crews received a call of a woman being hit by a car just south of Manhattan-Monee Road.

Crews responding to the scene found the woman was in cardiac arrest, prompting immediate medical attention. An ambulance from the Manhattan Fire Protection District rushed the critically injured pedestrian to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox where she was later pronounced dead at 1:19 a.m.

Will County Coroner Laurie H. Summers identified the victim Saturday night as Alexandria Jadron of Lockport. According to Coroner reports, Jadron sustained multiple injuries due to an automobile striking a pedestrian.  The final cause of death and manner of death will be determined pending the outcome of police, autopsy and toxicological reports.

Frankfort Fire personnel attended to the occupants of the vehicle, providing necessary aid. The car’s two occupants were treated and released at the scene of the accident.

Illinois State Police are now working an investigation into the incident.  So far, no charges have been announced. Route 45 was closed for several hours after the incident for accident investigators to work the scene.
