Passerby notices Two-story home being engulfed by fire in New Lenox

NEW LENOX – A fire Sunday night is under investigation after a passerby noticed the home on fire.

According to the New Lenox Fire Department Protection District, it happened around 9:15 pm last night when an individual passing the property noticed the fire on the south side of Delaney Road and Rydal Street.   The person called Manhattan Fire Protection District and had New Lenox Engine 63 respond as well.

Units arrived just three minutes after receiving the call to find the two-story house engulfed in flames.  Multiple agencies responded including units from Frankfort, East Joliet, Lockport, and Manteno.

No one was hurt in the blaze that took nearly 40 minutes to extinguished. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
