PEOTONE TOWNSHIP, Will County — A rapid response from the Will County Sheriff’s Department led to the arrest of two Illinois men early Friday who orchestrated a daring robbery, targeting a gun safe loaded with firearms, ATVs, and a stolen ring camera.

According to authorities, alert witness helps crack the case that began in the 29000 block of S. Center Road. The thieves allegedly made off with firearms, including handguns and shotguns, along with tools, a Gator utility vehicle, and a Polaris Ranger ATV.

While en route, a vigilant witness reportedly trailed two suspicious individuals fleeing the scene. The pursuit led to their apprehension at the intersection of Harlem and Bruns in Green Garden Township, promptly ending their spree.

Upon investigation, one of theme men, identified as Jeremy Peters, was found in possession of a loaded handgun with its serial numbers obliterated, along with a significant knife. Both suspects were taken to the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Unit, facing a litany of charges.

Anthony Peters is accused of burglary, while Jeremy Peters faces an array of charges, such as armed habitual felon, defacing a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and possession of stolen property.

The victims, relieved by the recovery of the Polaris Ranger ATV and tools, continue to collaborate with law enforcement as the investigation into the incident deepens. Authorities are also examining potential links to recent burglaries in eastern Will County townships.

Coincidentally, a separate report of an enclosed trailer theft from Jason Drive in Monee Township emerged around the same time, prompting deputies to expand their ongoing investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office lauds the vigilant witness for playing a pivotal role in aiding law enforcement’s efforts to combat burglary in the region. As the investigation advances, the public can anticipate further updates and information.
