CHICAGO, IL – The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will conduct routine inspections on Interstate 55 bridges over the Des Plaines River, near Channahon, starting Aug. 7, weather permitting.

Daily lane closures will be enforced, beginning with southbound bridges until around Aug. 14, followed by northbound bridges, expected to be completed by Aug. 19. Closures will take place between 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. for southbound and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for northbound.

At least one lane will remain open in both directions. Motorists should anticipate delays and consider alternate routes. For more information, visit IDOT’s website and follow them on social media.
