Train Derailment in Franklin Park Sunday caused delays for Metra Trains

FRANKLIN PARK, Ill. — A train carrying wheat and other cargo derailed on Sunday near the Franklin Park Police Department in west suburban Franklin Park. 

Two Canadian Pacific Railway freight cars tipped off the tracks, causing concern for those in the area.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. 

Officials reported that the train was removed from the area after it was righted, allowing Metra trains to resume their normal schedules. However, Metra trains in the area were delayed for approximately two hours as a result of the derailment.

The cause of the derailment is still under investigation. Canadian Pacific Railway officials are working to determine the cause of the incident and ensure that proper safety measures are in place to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.

The incident is a reminder of the importance of safety measures in the transportation of goods and people.
