MATTESON, Ill. — On Sunday afternoon around 2 pm, a fire broke out in a warehouse located in the 5501 block of Adams Street in Matteson. The warehouse, owned by KENCO, a logistics solutions center, is located near the Old Plank Road Prairie Nature Preserve.
The Matteson Fire Department immediately declared a box alarm upon receiving the call about the fire. Several nearby fire departments also responded to the scene to assist in containing the blaze.
According to the latest reports, fire crews from Chicago Heights, Tinley Park, Homewood, Oak Forest, Richton Park, Orland, Frankfort, Thornton, South Holland, Crete Township, Sauk Village, and Mokena Engine 91/University Park Truck 96 have been dispatched to the site.
As of now, no injuries have been reported, but the warehouse is believed to be heavily damaged. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the fire.
Further details about the incident are not yet known, but the Matteson Fire Department has assured the public that they are doing everything possible to control the situation. The Division 27 MVU has been requested to the scene to help in managing the situation.
