OAK PARK, Ill. — A night of excitement and anticipation for Lollapalooza turned into a horrifying ordeal after two festival-goers were electrocuted after leaping onto the tracks at the Oak Park CTA station to capture daring photos.

Authorities report it happened at the Ridgeland Green Line CTA station on South Boulevard Saturday evening. Eager to document their adventure, the two fans ignored safety warnings jumped down onto the electrified rail.

Tragedy struck swiftly as a man touched a charged rail and went into cardiac arrest. His female companion suffered electrocution as well.

Both were removed from the tracks by friends before emergency crews arrived. Both victims were rushed to the hospital, with the male listed in critical condition, and the female remaining conscious but in need of medical attention.

This chilling incident serves as a somber reminder of the perils of prioritizing risky photos over personal safety.
