KANKAKEE – A man was charged with assault after allegedly breaking into multiple vehicles on the 1200 block of Kennedy Drive Thursday morning.

According to Kankakee City Police, officers found a man matching a description in the area of the call near North Fifth Avenue.  The man was identified as 27-year-old Gabriel E Moscol of Kankakee.

Officers stopped Moscol after he laid down in grass and was later identified by a woman who owned one of the cars he allegedly broke into.

When police returned to the scene of the original call, a couple reported they had come out of a business to allegedly find Moscol looking through their car.  They would chase him before catching up to Moscol.  Moscol then reportedly told the couple he had a gun and threatened them before fleeing the scene.

Moscol was charged with Burglary to a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Assault and Criminal Damage to Property of $500 or less.

He was later released on $100 bond.
