KANKAKEE – Zachary Jensen, 23 of Kankakee is now facing up to 45 years in prison after an attempted robbery at the Kankakee River State Park.

Jensen was arrested in May 2019 by Illinois State Police and denied bail in September 2020.

Kankakee County State’s Attorney Jim Rowe announce the potential time after Jensen was found guilty of Robbery with a Firearm in court Friday afternoon.

“Many thanks to the Illinois State Police District 21 Ashkum and Illinois State Police Crime Lab for their thorough investigation, and to the Bourbonnais Police Department for their work assisting ISP with the case,” Rowe said in a statement Friday.  “Most class X felonies are punishable by 6-30 years in prison; however, a conviction for armed robbery with a firearm requires that 15 years be added to whatever sentence is imposed by the court, thus he now faces 21-45 years.”
