Man leaving Bar in Kankakee found shot Sunday morning

KANKAKEE – A 28-year-old man was found shot in the 200 block of South Schuyler Avenue early Sunday.

According to Kankakee City Police, it happened at 1:45am when shots were reported in the area.  A search of the area lead to the discovery of the victim in a parking lot who was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital.

“It is believed the victim had just left one of the local bars prior to the shooting. Detectives processed the scene and spoke to several people in the area.” City Police said in a statement. 

The victim’s name and condition have yet to be released.

Officers learned people who witnessed the shooting left before speaking with detectives.  Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the Kankakee Police Department Investigations Division at 815-405-0151.
