Buffalo, NY – Snow showers and cold temperatures will impact travel across western New York through late Monday afternoon, with slick spots possible on major roads before a hard freeze overnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, scattered snow showers will continue through roughly 6 p.m. Monday, with daytime highs only reaching 36 to 42 degrees across the region. Areas south of Buffalo, including Springville, Warsaw, and Wellsville, could see brief bursts of snow that reduce visibility and create slushy conditions.
Cities along the I-90 corridor, including Buffalo, Rochester, and Batavia, may experience intermittent snow showers during peak travel hours. While accumulation remains light, untreated bridges and overpasses could become slick as temperatures hover in the upper 30s.
Temperatures will drop sharply after sunset, falling into the low to mid-20s by early Tuesday morning. This freeze could refreeze any leftover moisture on roadways, increasing the risk of black ice for the Tuesday commute. Residents should use caution, especially on secondary roads and elevated surfaces.
Conditions turn drier Tuesday with a gradual warming trend through midweek, but another round of unsettled weather may return by Friday. Additional updates will be issued if conditions worsen.
