BOURBONNAIS – A 30-year-old man is dead following a single car crash on Interstate 57 Sunday night.
Illinois State Police District 21 Ashkum reported the crash Sunday afternoon after 4:30 pm on the northbound side of the interstate that required an airlift for the victim to the hospital after his 2002 Maroon Pontiac Grand Prix ran off the interstate and into a ditch.
According to state police reports, the driver lost control of the Pontiac and went into a ditch for unknown reasons. The driver of the car was ejected from the vehicle and suffered life threatening injuries. He was transported by Superior Air-Ground Ambulance and pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital.
The victim’s identity has not been released. The driver was the lone passenger in the vehicle.
