Urbana, IL – On Saturday night, Urbana Police Department officers arrested 40-year-old Amber Krak from McHenry County for her involvement in a stolen vehicle case. Krak was reportedly found in possession of the keys to a vehicle reported stolen, located in the 1600 block of Harding at approximately 8:15 PM. During the investigation, an alleged accomplice of Krak was observed reportedly attempting to swap the vehicle’s license plates with those from another car.
According to Urbana Police, Krak initially provided false information to the officers, a tactic that eventually led to the discovery of two active warrants for her arrest. One of these warrants was issued in Lake County, IL, for Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding and Driving with a Revoked License. The other warrant was from McHenry County for Failure to Stop After Being Involved in an Accident Involving Personal Injury or Death.
A search conducted at the time of Krak’s arrest reportedly uncovered possession of drug paraphernalia, including a scale, used syringes, and bags of drugs that tested positive for methamphetamine and crack cocaine. Additionally, a glass jar containing suspected black heroin was discovered among her possessions, along with $560 in cash, some of which was concealed with crack cocaine.
Krak has been charged with Obstructing Justice, Possession of Drug Equipment, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. She is currently being held at the Champaign County Satellite Jail.
