Michigan City, IN – House Fire Leads to Serious Injuries, Pet Fatalities

Michigan City, IN – A house fire on Ohio Street has resulted in serious injuries to one occupant and the tragic loss of two pets, despite the efforts of C shift crews from the Michigan City Fire Department. 

According to fire officials the incident, which occurred on Tuesday at 4 pm, saw the rapid response of firefighters who managed to extinguish the blaze that caused heavy damage to the home. Unfortunately, a cat and a dog perished in the fire, despite resuscitation attempts by the crews on scene. According to the Michigan City Fire Department, the house had no active utilities or smoke alarms at the time of the fire. 

The cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation.
