Michigan City, IN – A violent altercation on Sunday night in Michigan City resulted in a man being critically injured with a stab wound to the neck, prompting swift action from local law enforcement.
According to Lt. Steve Westphal, Division of Professional Standards Commander, the incident unfolded around 8:30 PM at a residence on 709 E 11th Street. Responding to the scene were Officers Taylor Tillman, Garrett McDaniel, Charles Davis, and Christopher Manns of the Uniform Patrol Shift II, alongside emergency medical teams from LaPorte County and the Michigan City Fire Department.
The victim, identified as 46-year-old Jason Clinton, received immediate life-saving measures before being transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, Clinton was later flown to Indianapolis Methodist Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The Michigan City Police Department’s Investigative Division took charge of the scene, leading to the arrest of JD Williams, 57, also from Michigan City. Williams now faces allegations and charges of Aggravated Battery (Level 3 Felony), Battery with a Deadly Weapon (Level 5 Felony), and Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury (Level 5 Felony), in addition to two Failure to Appear warrants. He is currently being held without bond, pending a formal probable cause hearing before Judge Jaime Oss in LaPorte County Superior Court 1.
An investigation into the case remains ongoing. Michigan City Police Department has provided several contact methods for the public to share information, including the possibility of receiving a reward through the WeTip Hotline for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
