Calhoun County, MI – A 39-year-old man has been convicted on multiple felony charges tied to a 2020 kidnapping and sexual assault case, following a jury trial that concluded this week.

According to the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office, William Devon Google Jr. was found guilty on Monday, April 20, 2026, after a trial that began April 14. Jurors returned guilty verdicts on all charges after approximately 45 minutes of deliberation.

Prosecutors said the convictions include first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a weapon, kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, felon in possession of a firearm, and assault with a dangerous weapon. Officials also noted he was charged as a violent habitual offender, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence.

According to authorities, the case stems from an October 2020 incident in which the suspect allegedly abducted and assaulted a female victim in Calhoun County. Investigators reported that evidence collected during the case, including forensic testing and witness testimony, played a key role in securing the conviction.

Officials said the victim did not testify during the trial, and prosecutors relied on additional evidence and testimony presented in court.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation, with assistance from prosecutors and victim advocacy staff throughout the case.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 1, 2026.
