Missouri Tornado Causes Damage in Oakville and Monroe County, Illinois

St. Louis, MO – An EF-1 tornado caused significant damage in Oakville, MO, crossing into Monroe County, IL.

According to the US National Weather Service, the tornado struck at 5:48 p.m. on Sunday, uprooting trees and snapping large branches as it traveled. The tornado also damaged a carport and shed before lifting just west of Columbia around 6:02 p.m. The tornado had a length of 8.8 miles and a maximum width of 172 yards. Fortunately, no fatalities or injuries were reported.

Local authorities are assessing the damage and advising residents to stay cautious while cleanup efforts are underway.
