Monee, IL – School Bus, Deer Collision on I-57 near Rest Stop Leaves Driver Injured

Monee, IL – A school bus driver sustained minor injuries after a deer crashed through the vehicle’s windshield on Interstate 57 near a rest area over the weekend.

According to the Monee Fire Protection District, the incident occurred when the deer leaped onto the road and through the bus’s driver-side window.

The driver was promptly transported for treatment. The accident serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of wildlife crossings on highways. 

Authorities have not released further details on the driver’s condition or the extent of the damage to the bus.  It’s unknown if any students were aboard the bus at the time of the crash.
