Multiple Fatalities in I-57 Crash, Closed for Hours Friday Evening

Pesotum, IL – Illinois State Police (ISP) Troop 7 units are responding to a major crash involving multiple fatalities on I-57 southbound near milepost 212. Traffic is being rerouted off exit 220, I-57 southbound, to U.S. Route 45. The road is expected to be closed for at least 3-4 hours Friday evening.

According to ISP, the crash occurred Friday evening and involves multiple fatalities. Drivers are urged to seek alternate routes, including U.S. Route 45, to avoid significant traffic delays. Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
