Naperville, IL – In a remarkable feat captured on body camera footage, Naperville police officers rescued a family whose vehicle had careened into a local retention pond last Tuesday. The scene unfolded just south of the 95th Street library, where the white SUV remained stuck in the water.

According to the Naperville Police Department, the driver accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the vehicle to plunge into the pond.

Upon arrival, officers assessed the situation, finding the water to be 2 to 3 feet deep. They swiftly shattered a back window of the SUV to rescue the occupants, including at least one young child. From the moment officers arrived the water to the point where the family was brought to shore, only two minutes had passed.
