Ashley Furniture Recalls Cup Holder Lights labeled Fire Hazard in 253,000 Seating Units

ARCADIA, Wis. – Ashley Furniture Industries has issued a safety alert for its Party Time Collection Loveseats, Sofas, and Recliners, totaling approximately 253,000 units sold over the past four years. 

The recall comes in response to a fire hazard caused by the cupholders’ LED lighting, which has the potential to overheat and ignite. The company took action on June 8, 2023, to ensure customer safety and prevent any further incidents.

These popular home seating units, marketed under the Signature Design by Ashley Furniture Industries, LLC brand, feature power reclining functionality, faux leather upholstery, and integrated LED lighting along with USB charging ports. The products were sold in both black and white colors.

To identify the affected units, customers should refer to the model numbers located on the barcode at the bottom of each item. The recall includes the following model numbers:

  • Loveseat: 3700318, 3700418, 3700318C, and 3700418C
  • Sofa: 3700315, 3700415, 3700315C, and 3700415C
  • Recliner: 3700313, 3700413, 3700313C, and 3700413C

The recall instructs consumers to immediately unplug these loveseats, sofas, and recliners and contact Ashley Furniture Industries for a free repair. This measure aims to eliminate the fire hazard and ensure the safety of households across the country.

Ashley Furniture Industries decided to issue the recall following six reported incidents of the cupholders’ LED lighting overheating, resulting in fire and smoke damage, as well as damage to the furniture itself. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported to date. By acting promptly and taking advantage of the free repair, customers can minimize the potential risks associated with these units.

The affected products were distributed through Ashley Homestores and other furniture retailers nationwide, including online sales through Ashleyfurniture.com, between November 2018 and March 2023. The price range for these items varied from $900 to $1,800, reflecting their popularity and features.
