NEW LENOX, Ill. – An 18-year-old New Lenox resident, Patrick D. Bryant III, was arrested at Walmart on March 16th, 2023, for Retail Theft. Little did he know that his arrest would lead to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and a felony charge.
The stolen car was taken from the Metra parking lot in New Lenox on March 13th, 2023. The victim’s car was left unlocked with a key fob inside, and Bryant was allegedly seen on video pulling on multiple car doors in the parking lot before finding the unlocked car. Bryant then drove away in the stolen car, which was later found unoccupied following a car accident on I-57.
After Bryant’s arrest at Walmart, the police conducted a further investigation, and they charged him with a class 2 Felony for Motor Vehicle Theft. The New Lenox Police Department reminds residents to take extra precautions and lock their cars while removing all valuables from plain sight.
The recovery of the stolen car and the arrest of Bryant is a result of the New Lenox Police Department’s diligent efforts in keeping the community safe. They encourage anyone with information about this incident or any other crimes to come forward and contact them.
