New York Man Charged After Library Fight, Victim Detained on Pennsylvania Warrant

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia announced the arrest of Jacob Schneider, 38, following an alleged fight at the Buffalo and Erie County Public Central Library on Friday afternoon.

According to Sheriff Garcia, deputies were dispatched to the library around 3:15 p.m. and witnessed Schneider walking away from the scene, ignoring orders to stop. Witnesses identified him as the alleged aggressor. Schneider was apprehended after a foot chase across Washington and Main Streets.

The investigation revealed Schneider allegedly confronted the victim, stole $40 from him, and struck him multiple times. The victim, who was treated for head injuries, was transported to Buffalo General Medical Center. 

Schneider faces charges of robbery, assault, and resisting arrest, and is held at Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment. The victim was detained on an outstanding warrant from Pennsylvania.
