Newton County, IN – Newton County Sheriff’s Department has advised that both local school districts have transitioned to E-learning for Friday, January 19, 2024, due to overnight snow and wind causing minor drifting, particularly on East-West roads.

According to the department’s latest update, snow plows are actively clearing the roads, and motorists are urged to maintain a safe distance to facilitate their operation. Furthermore, intersections have been reported as slick, necessitating extra caution for braking and turning.

As of now, only one minor crash has been reported. The department emphasizes the importance of driving slowly, allowing additional travel time, and using headlights for safety.
