WATSEKA – Iroquois County Prosecutors won’t seek jail time for a woman who plead guilty to cruel treatment to animals after nearly 700 dead animals were found buried in shallow graves in 2019. Some of those animals still remain missing.

That year, around 700 rescued or surrendered animals to the now defunct non-profit Earth Advocates were found buried in shallow graves on the property of the now closed Thawville Animal Shelter at 109 S.W. Park St.  Some of those animals are still missing.

Later that year an online petition launched demanding Founder, 40-year-old Corinne N. DiLorenzo be criminally charged.  She was arrested on Christmas Eve and posted bail of $10,000.

A jury earlier returned a count against DiLorenzo alleging she “intentionally caused the death of multiple companion animals including dogs, cats, pigs, rabbits, birds, goats, raccoons and turtles.”

She could have faced up to three years in prison on the charges.
