HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – A North Carolina home was destroyed after a car ran into the building Sunday, driving straight through the bottom floor.

According to Huntersville Fire Officials, it began just before 5 p.m. in the 13100 block of Lawther Road when a vehicle made an unplanned detour through a local home, driving completely through it from one end to the other.  The vehicle came to a rest only after the car slammed into an adjacent fire hydrant, twisting the fixture 90 degrees.

Remarkably, there were no serious injuries reported from the home or the driver, who was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
