Orland Hills, IL – Orland Hills Police and school officials lifted a soft lockdown at Andrew High School this morning after a bullet was found in the school’s hallway.
According to a letter from Principal Dr. Abir Othman, the incident began around 8:55 a.m. when a student discovered a bullet in the Alternative Education hallway and immediately reported it to a teacher. The school promptly initiated a soft lockdown as a precautionary measure.
Through surveillance footage, staff identified the student responsible for dropping the bullet. No weapons were found on campus, and the student was taken into custody for questioning by the police. The lockdown was lifted at approximately 9:30 a.m. following a thorough investigation.
Dr. Othman expressed gratitude towards the Tinley Park Police Department, the school’s Deans’ Office staff, and the Administration for their swift action in securing the building. The principal also commended the flexibility and cooperation of the staff and students, highlighting their adaptability and commitment to maintaining a safe school environment.
