JOLIET, IL – An overturned semi-truck loaded with a cargo of asphalt brought southbound traffic on 1-55 to a grinding halt at Caton Farm Road early this morning.

Authorities were forced to close all three lanes following the wreck shortly after 8 a.m. leaving only the right shoulder open for vehicles to pass through. The resulting congestion has caused a ripple effect, with traffic backing up all the way to Renwick Road.

Even northbound drivers have not been spared, as they slow down to catch a glimpse of the southbound chaos while approaching Caton Farm Road.

No injuries have yet to be reported in the crash.
