Park Forest, IL – The Park Forest Police Department has issued an urgent scam alert to local residents.

According to authorities, a new scam involves text messages falsely claiming to be from UPS, notifying recipients of a failed package delivery that requires rescheduling. The message prompts a $1.20 rescheduling fee, but upon payment, scammers reportedly steal credit card information. The police department emphasizes that these messages are fraudulent and no actual package exists.

Residents are advised to be cautious of calls or texts from unknown numbers and to verify directly with companies before responding to such messages.
