Police search for leads in shooting death of Kankakee Man found in Alley

KANKAKEE – City Police are looking for leads surrounding the death of a 29-year-old resident Sunday afternoon found in an alley with gunshot wounds to the chest.

According to police, officers responded to shots fired in the 500 block of South Indiana Avenue yesterday afternoon when residents alerted police on arrival a man had been shot in a nearby alley. Officers then discovered 29-year-old Daryl T. Spears of Kankakee behind the 400 block of South Dearborn Avenue.

Spears was transported to a nearby Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police are continuing an investigation into the shooting and asking the public for leads surrounding the case. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (815) 932-7463.
