Lincoln, IL – Residents in Central Illinois are urged to prepare for possible severe thunderstorms late this evening, particularly west of I-57.

The National Weather Service has identified a high probability of isolated severe weather from 10 PM to 2 AM. Conditions are ripe for damaging wind gusts exceeding 60 mph and large hail, potentially over 1 inch in diameter. Additionally, the threat of flash flooding is elevated due to locally heavy rain in urban or poorly drained areas. Community members are advised to stay alert, secure a safe indoor location, and ensure they have multiple ways to receive weather warnings.

The region is expected to experience fluctuating weather conditions with a series of dry and stormy periods extending into the weekend, along with warm daytime temperatures reaching the mid-80s and nighttime lows in the 50s to 60s.
