MOKENA – A toilet has residents up in arms after it appeared somewhere inside Hickory Creek Preserve this week.

The Forest Preserve of Will County showcase the porcelain throne on it’s social media Thursday afternoon, reminding residents preserves aren’t dumping grounds.

Illegal dumping is a misdemeanor for first time offenders and can be punishable as a felony for subsequent offenses with fines up to $50,000 on the day of offense.

According to the EPA, the most likely candidates to practice illegal dumping include various contractors, scrap collectors, and local do-it-yourselfers.

If you see an example of illegal dumping at a preserve, or near you, you can call the Will County Forest Preserve non-emergency number at 815-727-6191.
