Schaumburg, IL – The Village of Schaumburg Police Department has made a significant breakthrough in the investigation of a shooting incident that occurred in the community Wednesday after a home was hit by gunfire, believed to have been targeted.
According to schaumburg police reports, at 2:15 p.m. Friday afternoon authorities arrested Jake Mateos, an 18-year-old resident of Hoffman Estates, in connection with the gunfire on February 28 in the 1000 block of Boston Harbor. Mateos faces charges of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm after allegedly firing six shots outside of a residence, with four rounds hitting near a bedroom window. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported from the incident.
Investigations reveal Mateos reportedly had connections to the occupants of the home through an acquaintance, adding a layer of complexity to the motive behind the shooting. At the time of his arrest, Mateos was found in possession of a 9mm handgun. No further details surrounding the case of been released.
Mateos is scheduled for a detention hearing on Saturday, March 2nd, as the community and law enforcement await further developments in this case.
