CHICAGO – A company that once had its hands tied into everything  you could think of, including do it yourself model home kits, is set to close its last Department Store in Illinois.

The company will close their Woodfield Mall location on November 14th, which will come 50 years after the Schaumburg based Mall first opened. Sears was an original anchor store at the location.

At once time, Sears operated over 3,500 stores across the U.S. including Kmart brands.  As of August this year, only 51 locations remained open, including 34 Sears and 17 Kmart stores.

Sears announced it filed for Chapter 11 in October 2018.  The company was founded in Chicago in the 1893.
