Semi Fire Closes I-65 Southbound in Boone County, Traffic Diverted

Boone County, IN – A semi-truck fire early Saturday morning has closed all southbound lanes of I-65 near State Road 28, causing significant traffic disruptions.

According to the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), the incident occurred around 3 a.m., about seven miles north of Lebanon. Crews are still working diligently to clear the scene as of 6:30 a.m. Due to the fire’s severity, traffic is being diverted to State Road 28.

Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and avoid the area if possible. The cleanup process is expected to take several hours, and significant delays are anticipated. Travelers should plan for additional travel time and stay updated through official INDOT channels.

Local authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, and no injuries have been reported at this time.
