Severe Thunderstorms to Hit Kansas City Tonight, Bringing Damaging Winds and Heavy Rain

Kansas City, MO – Severe thunderstorms are expected to hit Kansas City tonight into Sunday morning, potentially bringing damaging winds and heavy rainfall.

According to the US National Weather Service in Kansas City, the storms are anticipated mainly between 7 PM and 4 AM along and south of the Interstate 70 corridor. Wind gusts could reach up to 60 mph, with hail up to the size of ping pong balls. While the tornado threat is low, heavy rainfall could lead to isolated spots of up to 2 inches, causing localized flash flooding and river flooding. Residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
