Sherman, IL – Sherman residents have been alerted to an increase in unauthorized door-to-door sales activities within the village. The Village of Sherman has issued a warning that solicitation of certain types, including solar sales, roofing, remodeling, pest control, lawn service, and other for-profit door-to-door activities, are strictly prohibited within its corporate boundaries.
According to section 4-3-2 of the Village of Sherman Code of Ordinances, no permits are issued for these activities, and violators face hefty fines starting at $500 for the first offense and $1000 for subsequent violations per person, per company, per occurrence.
The village does allow permits for certain non-profit and First Amendment-protected operations, but solicitation for these services still requires a permit.
