Springfield Man Dies in High-Speed Crash in Battle Creek

Battle Creek, MI – A high-speed crash claimed the life of a Springfield man Thursday evening.

According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident on the 300 block of Avenue A at around 8:23 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a single vehicle had veered off the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle’s lone occupant, a 41-year-old Springfield resident, was extricated by the Springfield Fire Department and transported to Bronson Hospital in Battle Creek. Despite life-saving measures, he later succumbed to his injuries.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, which is under investigation by the Calhoun County Accident Reconstruction Team.
