St. Louis, Missouri – Drivers across eastern Missouri have a narrow window to prepare as warm, dry conditions give way to overnight thunderstorms expected to arrive after 10 p.m. Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, daytime highs will climb into the upper 70s and low 80s through Thursday, running 5 to 10 degrees above seasonal averages. The agency identifies late Thursday night into early Friday morning as the primary window for rain and scattered thunderstorms, with activity likely continuing until around 6 a.m.

The extended stretch of mild weather will impact communities from Columbia to St. Louis, where dry roads and springlike conditions dominate through Thursday evening. That changes overnight as pockets of heavier rain and lightning move across major corridors including I-64, I-70, and I-44, potentially slowing the early Friday commute.

While severe weather is not the main concern, brief downpours could reduce visibility and create slick conditions before sunrise. Residents should charge devices, secure outdoor items, and allow extra travel time Friday morning.

Conditions turn quieter again after daybreak Friday, with no widespread rain expected through the weekend. Additional updates or advisories could be issued if storm timing or intensity shifts overnight.
