Staggering $25 Million Bond Set for Five Charged in Chicago-Area Human Trafficking Ring

CHICAGO, IL – Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser and St. Charles Chief of Police James Keegan announced charges this week against five individuals involved in a human trafficking ring. The accused are facing multiple offenses, and the gravity of their crimes is reflected in the hefty bail set by Judge Salvatore LoPiccolo at $5 million each.

The defendants, Hector Briseno (54), Christian Hurtado (27), Daniel Hurtado (26), Martha P. Hurtado-Hernandez (57), and Rigoberto Parra (46), were charged with crimes ranging from involuntary servitude and trafficking in persons for labor to promoting prostitution for profit.

According to State’s Attorney Mosser, the five named defendants allegedly conspired between February and July 2023 to subject seven victims to commercial sexual activity, using threats and physical harm to control them. They confined the victims to a residence, transported them to locations for sexual exploitation, and advertised their availability for commercial sexual activities.

The investigation led to the rescue of seven victims, one of whom required medical treatment. The collaboration between the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office and the St. Charles Police Department played a pivotal role in bringing these charges.

The court appearances for the defendants are scheduled for July 28, 2023, at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 305 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
