Valparaiso Railroad Crossings Blocked as Train Collides with Unoccupied Vehicle

Valparaiso, IN – A train collided with an unoccupied vehicle early Saturday resulting in the blockage of several railroad crossings across the area. The train strike caused significant disruptions to the affected areas, prompting authorities to urge caution and find alternate routes.

According to Valparaiso Police, several railroad crossings along the Canadian National in the City of Valparaiso will remain blocked for an undetermined amount of time as cleanup continues.  Intersections impacted begin at Franklin St. and head west towards Yellowstone Rd.

No word on what lead up to the crash.  An investigation is underway.  No information on the vehicle that caused the wreck has been released at this time.
