It only took a pandemic to close two major retailers for the holidays.

Target announced Monday it will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.  The move follows a similar announcement made by Wal-Mart last week.

“This year more than ever, a joyful holiday will be inseparable from a safe one, and we’re continuing to adjust our plans to deliver ease, value and the joy of the season in a way that only Target can,” Target CEO Brian Cornell said.

Target added beginning in October; ‘lowest prices of the year’ will be available in store and online to help customers in avoiding missed deals throughout the course of the holiday season.  Additionally, over 20,000 new products including groceries will be made available through drive-up, order pickup and same day delivery with Shipt.

Groceries will be made available for pickup and drive up at all Target stores in the U.S. beginning this fall.
