Traffic Stop Leads to Arrests, Stolen Gun in Kankakee County

Kankakee County, Illinois – A traffic stop on Interstate 57 took a dramatic twist on Tuesday afternoon, leading to the arrest of two individuals. 

The incident occurred just south of Kankakee County when Illinois State Police discovered that 30-year-old Gianni M. Kennedy of Chicago had allegedly provided a false identification during the stop. A thorough search of Kennedy’s vehicle unearthed a firearm that had been reported stolen, raising serious concerns. Kennedy now faces charges related to possession of a weapon by a felon.

Kennedy’s passenger, 28-year-old Tiara J. Riley from Riverdale, was also arrested on multiple charges, including obstruction of justice, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a controlled substance.
